greatworkgoodjob asked: hi! i think your work is golden and eternal. tell me, what medium(s) did you use for the "Two pieces of dad for the “Small Creatures Such As We” show"?? be well. thanks!
Oh wow! Haha my work is definitely not golden and eternal, but thank you very much! I actually did both of those digitally on Photoshop with reference to photographs. I also used custom brushes and a texture mask. I think I used this gouache brush and maybe some brushes from Kyle T Webster’s brush packs.
The texture mask part is a little hard to explain. I’m not even sure if “texture mask” is the right description for it. I tried Googling the technique and the closest thing I could find was this tutorial. It’s a little different from how I do it, but if you’re interested in the technique that tutorial is a great place to start!
We did a small Secret Santa in the illustration department! This is Leonard’s piece for me!
Self portrait work in progress, drawing some inspiration from Virgos Lounge. Feelin like it might be looking too similar to the photoshoot right now? Still work in progress tho so I’ll see how it progresses.
Watching Leverage on Netflix with some friends and I may have accidentally drawn Parker (Beth Riesgraf)
Been playing alot of Zelda: Minish Cap lately. Link always looks super pouty.
I’ve been meaning to post this for a while but I’m just now getting around to it. Above are a few things I grabbed at MICA’s Art Market this year, where students and local artists get to sell their work.
I spent my last semester at mica with some amazingly talented and inspiring artists including:
Most of them are on tumblr. Its a long list but each artist is definitely worth checking out! They helped me make my last semester exciting and challenging.
Wow thanks so much for the shout out Ian! Please check out Ian’s work as well as this list of wonderful MICA illustrators!
